1) Serial Port on Rear Panel of Laptop:

	a) The default configuration of the Serial Port was disabled.

		1) To enable the serial port perform the following steps

			a) Start Menu 
			    Control Panel
			     System
			      Device Manager
			       Ports (Com & LPT)
				Communications Port 2 (Com 2)

				1) Communications Port 2 (Com 2):
				    Properties
				     General
				      Device Usage Section
				
					a) Device Usage Section:
					    UN-CHECK BOX, Disable
					     in Hardware Profile

		2) Close All Windows/Dialogs (OK).

			1) Shut Down PC

			2) Re-Boot PC.

	b) Now the MP4000 software should communicate with an ICM via
	    the Serial Port.


2) Parallel Port on Rear Panel of Laptop:

	a) The BIOS configuration of this laptop uses the Alternate
	    Parallel Port Addressing

	b) To enable the MP4000 Software to use the parallel port
	    perform the following steps

		1) The MP4000 Software needs to be configured for
		    the alternate address

			a) OPTIONS
			    Communications
			     LPT1:
			      3BC.

	c) Now the MP400 software should communicate with an ICM
	    via the Parallel Port


	d) The Laptops default configuration of LPT1: 3BC,
	    bi-directional is ok.



3) Notes

	a) The Normal Addresses are:  LPT1: 378,  LPT2:278,  LPT3: 3BC


	b) The ThinkPad Laptop's addresses are:  LPT1: 3BC,  LPT2: 378,
	    LPT3: 278

	c) The ThinkPad's BIOS setting for the parallel port can be
	    checked by running an MS-DOS prompt

		1)  and typing PS2 ? Parallel
