********************************************************************** Media Pro 4000 Brief Date: February 2nd 1999 File: Firmware_FileName_Conventions_BR020299.txt Module: All MP4000 Modules with Firmware Title: Typical Firmware FileName Conventions ********************************************************************** 1) Typical Firmware FileName Conventions a) Most Modules Firmware starts with the same first 3 letters as the module itself. ie: DSM-4010 uses dsm4kd08.cod ^^^ b) A b, or bt in the middle of the .cod filename indicates that the firmware is the module's BOOT firmware. ie: DSM-4010 uses dsm41b01.cod ^ c) A d,dl or pgm in the middle of the .cod filename indicates that the firmware is the module's DOWNLOAD (application program) firmware. ie: DSM-4010 uses dsm4kd08.cod ^ d) The remaining ending characters in the file name indicate the version of the firmware. ie: DSM-4010 dsm4kd08.cod ^^ 2) Exception: The ICM download (application program) Firmware is named as follows. a) First 2 characters reflect the MP4000 software version 16 = 16bit software, 32 = 32bit software. b) The next 2 characters reflect the ICM Module version 10 = ICM-4010, 20 = ICM-4020 c) The remaining ending character in the file name indicate the version of the firmware. d) ie: 3220109b.cod is for 32bit MP4000 Software, ICM-4020, Firmware version 109b. 3) Name Examples: (at some time in the past) a) ABM-4010 Download Firmware is : ABMrtD00.cod b) AOM-4010 Download Firmware is : AOM5pgm2.cod AOM-4010 BOOT Firmware is : AOM5bt01.cod c) ASM-4020 Download Firmware is : ASM42d03.cod ASM-4020 BOOT Firmware is : ASM42b03.cod d) DSM-4010 Download Firmware is : DSM41d09.cod DSM-4010 BOOT Firmware is : DSM41b02.cod e) DSM-4020 Download Firmware is : DSM42d60.cod DSM-4020 BOOT Firmware is : DSM42b21.cod f) ICM-4020 Download Firmware is : 3220115c.cod ICM-4020 BOOT Firmware is : ICMbt228.cod g) IMC-4010/20 Download Firmware is : IMC_115e.cod h) LCM-4020 Download Firmware is : LCMdl277.cod i) SEM-4020 Download Firmware is : SEMdl038.cod j) TCM-4010 Download Firmware is : TCM4Kd04.cod TCM-4010 BOOT Firmware is : TCM4Kb02.cod 4) Updating Firmware a) In most cases it is only necessary to update the Download Firmware, and not necessary to update the Boot firmware. b) Most modules will not display firmware information when queried if they are running only the Boot, Nor will they verify the boot. c) If the programming of the Boot seemed successful, and the Module does not respond to version info requests, or verify the boot, proceed with programming the Download Firmware, then Verify both the download Firmware, and the Boot Firmware. d) Once the Download Firmware is running, the module should respond to the Firmware version requests, as well as be able to verify the Firmware. e) If it is necessary to update the Boot Firmware on a Module, a jumper may need to me moved on some modules, before programming the boot, and moved back after the boot is programmed and verified. f) See the Jumper information in the manual for the module in question, or contact Anitech Systems for further information. g) NOTE: It is imperative that once the programming of the Boot is started, that it not be interrupted (reset, turned off, unplug the comm cable, ...), or the module may become unusable (requiring a new Boot Flash to be installed). 5) Boot Program Enable Jumper Example: a) DSM-4010, requires a jumper to be moved before programming the Boot. b) The Jumper (E2) is located near the center of the back edge of the Module, near the bottom edge of the Field connector. c) For normal operation, the jumper should be E2: 1-2 (disabled). To program the Boot the jumper should be E2: 2-3 (enabled). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Specifications subject to change at any time.
