********************************************************************** Media Pro 4000 Brief Date: February 2nd 1999 File: DSM_Multi-Track_Phase_Lock_BR020299.txt Module: DSM Title: DSM Configuration for Multi-Track Phase Locking ********************************************************************** 1) Restrictions of use in this document a) The Restrictions in this document were used for the sake of simplicity, and ease of configuration when learning how to use Multi-Track Phase Locking. b) The DSM is not limited by the configuration and wiring restrictions in this document. c) It is possible for the DSMs to function properly with other Module Positioning, Configuration, and Wiring. 2) DSM Module Positioning a) The Master should be to the left of the Slaves. b) The Slaves should be to the right of the Master. c) Example: The Master could be in slot 10, with the Slaves in slots 11 & 12. 3) DSM Software Configuration a) Only 1 port can be configured as master. b) Only 1 port can be configured as slave. c) Only 1 segments can be on the Master or Slave track. d) No other Segments can be played while the e) For the Master: On the DSM Track dialog, Change the Mode selection to Master. f) For the Slave: On the DSM Track dialog, Change the Mode selection to Slave. g) Tally Out can be set for the Last Slave, and must be off for all other Slaves, and the Master. h) Tally In must be set for all Slaves i) Tally In can be set for the Master j) Loop can be set for the Master only K) Retrig should not be set 4) DSM Field Wiring Clock a) The last Slave must have Clock-Out jumpered from it's Clock-Out to it's Clock-In (d32 - b32). b) Chain the Clock-In from the last Slave to the previous Slave (Last Slave z32 - Previous Slave b32). c) Continue chaining the Clock-In from the right to the left for all remaining DSMs including the Master (right DSM z32 - left DSM b32). d) Slot 10 Slot 11 Slot 12 Master Slave Slave b32 --- z32 b32 --- z32 b32-d32 5) DSM Field Wiring Tally a) The Master Tally-Out must be jumpered to the Tally-In of the Slave to its right (Master d30 - Slave z30). b) Continue jumpering the Tally-Out from the left to the right for all remaining DSMs (Left Slave d30 - Right Slave z30) c) Slot 10 Slot 11 Slot 12 Master Slave Slave d30 --- z30 d30 --- z30 6) Multi-Track Operation a) The Master DSM should be the only DSM given the play command. b) The Slave DSMs will be prepared to play by the Tally signals from the master to the 1st slave, and from slave to slave. c) Each DSM will pass the tally signal to the next DSM when it is prepared to play. d) When the Last Slave is prepared to play, it will send out the clock signal that all other DSMs will synchronize to via the Clock-Out of the last slave, and the Clock-In to Clock-In chain Jumpers. e) Every time the last DSM outputs a clock signal, all DSMs output a sample of audio. f) The Master DSM should be the only DSM given the Stop command. g) All Slaves will stop as the tally is dropped by the master, and passed from slave to slave via the Tally-Out & Tally-In Jumpers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Specifications subject to change at any time.
