********************************************************************** Media Pro 4000 Brief Date: February 17th 1999 File: AOM_Parameter_Configuration_BR021799.txt Module: AOM 4010 and ASM 4020 Title: AOM/ASM Parameter Edit Screen Philosophy ********************************************************************** This document is intended to minimize confusion on the AOM 4010 and ASM 4020/10 parameter edit screens. 1) Match Configurations a) Verify that the Port Mode for each individual port (on the AOM Tune screen) matches the corresponding jumper settings on the AOM card before parameters are entered: ex. Port 7: bipolar Port Mode --> bipolar +/-10V or +/-5V module jumpers on port 7 2) The AOM Tune Screen a) When first accessed, all parameters are at their default positions (unless a previous configuration was saved to the hard drive). Downloading the default configuration (from the AOM Online screen) resets all saved information in the flash memory on the AOM. b) When the 'Enable' box is checked (polling is now enabled), once values are entered in parameter cells and 'Enter' is hit or another cell is clicked, that new value is automatically stored in the AOM's RAM. This information is volatile; once the power is turned off, the AOM is reset, the RAM information will be gone, all new parameter information will not be on the hard drive, will not be in the AOM flash, and the original settings will be displayed. c) If parameter values are changed and the 'Apply' button or 'OK' button is clicked, again the new information is stored in RAM, but the changes are now also stored on the hard drive. If the AOM is reset, etc., when the screen is accessed, the previous changes will still be there on the hard drive, shown on the screen. The RAM will not match the hard drive parameters. d) If the parameter values are edited, and the changes need to be saved to the AOM's flash memory, click 'Apply', goto the AOM Online screen, then download and verify the new configuration. 3) Reading and Editing the AOM's Saved Parameters a) When the AOM is energized, the flash memory loads the parameter configuration into volatile RAM. b) From the AOM Tune screen, checking 'enable' and then clicking 'Read RAM' will display the AOM's configuration. From there, parameters can be edited, but will not be saved to flash until the modified configuration is first "applied" to the hard drive, then downloaded and verified. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 'Apply' or 'OK' --> saves screen config. to hard drive cell changes only --> saves to AOM RAM download and verify --> saves to AOM flash memory (after apply) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Specifications are subject to change at any time.
